Constitution and Charter
of the
National Association of Pet Funeral Directors

Be it now known and forevermore recorded that the formation of the Organization known as the National Association of Pet Funeral Directors is hereby established and that this is the one and only official instrument by which it is created. The Founders of this Organization, whose signatures appear below, authorize and provide for no alternation of any kind pertaining to the founding principles of this Organization. Furthermore, there is no instrument, body, or group which may alter, change, or otherwise tamper with this Constitution excepting the duly appointed Judiciary of the United States of America.

Article I.
In-as-much as at the time of the establishment of this Organization, there exists no clear distinction between disposal and Pet Cemetery or Pet Crematory methods of After-Death pet care in the perception of the general public; and the veterinary community, as a whole, appear unsuccessful in addressing this basic philosophical dilemma of after death pet care. It has fallen to the Founders of this Organization to define the terms, seek legislation and regulation to establish the separate and distinct difference between disposal of a deceased pet and the after-death pet care provided by a recognized and professional Pet Cemetery / Pet Crematory or Pet Funeral Director. Therefore, it is hereby declared and established that from this day forward any business, concern or enterprise providing after-death pet care shall be categorized as a member Pet Cemetery / Pet Crematory or Pet Funeral Director only when they comply with the principles defined in Article II of this Constitution.

Article II.
To be recognized as a Pet Cemetery or Pet Crematory by the N.A.P.F.D. the entity must adhere to the following principles:

A. Availability of a one time continuous care fee charge. To prevent reuse of any space for non-payment of a fee.

B. No subcontracted private cremations unless you or the Client are present to guarantee the service contracted for is done correctly.

C. All Services must be done by our definition of terms. Clients may be present for all services.

D. Cemetery property must be protected to insure the property remains a pet cemetery.

E. Continuous Care Funds must be held in an continuous trust to guarantee the care of the property.

F. No commission, remuneration or gratuity will be paid to other than such member’s regular employees or regular salesmen, engaged for that purpose, in the sale of cemetery lots, crypt or niche spaces, interment rights, cremations, memorials or any other cemetery property or services.

G. Compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws.

H. Maintain adequate records and our own individual price policies open for public views.

I. Contracts for services must be between the Pet Owner and the Pet Cemetery / Pet Crematory or Pet Funeral Director.

J. Each member will have three years from date of membership to comply fully with these principles or their membership will be revoked.

Article III.
This Constitution hereby provides for the establishment of a Board of Directors for the Organization to administer the affairs of the Organization. The Board hereby established shall in no way alter this Constitution. The Board may be dissolved by the simple majority vote of the Organizations members even by proxy. The Board shall promote the principles of this Constitution by established and amending the By-Laws of the Organization as necessary. In event of dissolution of the Organization, all assets shall be disbursed after debt settlement among the member Pet Cemeteries / Pet Crematories and Pet Funeral Directors complying with Article II of this Constitution.
